Never say: "I Can't"

A lot has happened since the last update; Jack has kept very busy and hasn't let anything stop him from getting back into sports.

On January 22nd, UCLA held a Teen Adventure Program (T.A.P.) at the John Wooden Center for teens with all types of amputations.  Jack was able to invite his friend Andrew to join him for this 3 hour day which consisted of many different sports, but Jack's favorite was wheel-chair basketball.  Even with Jack's amputated finger and all the sports available that day, he never once said "I can't", he only said let's go for it.  This program is offered every other month, the next event is March 19th at the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center in Marina del Rey.  Jack's new adventure for that day is kayaking, burrrrrrrr!

Late January was the start of the high school golf team try-outs, so Jack has been busy M-Th after school at the golf course.  Thanks to Grandpa and Uncle John for their support with golf clubs.  This is another, never say "I can't" moment.  Jack is continuing to strengthen his hand so he can try new sports.  I hope it's strong enough not to let that golf club loose!

I finally have a few updated photos of Jack's hand.  It looks great and he feels so much better about the way it feels and looks.

God Bless and Happy Valentine's Day.

  1. Jack,

With parents such as Nancy and Tom ... how can you not step up to the plate and become the best! Jack, I am so proud of you! You are not a quitter and will always take the hurdles in life as another log to step over.

Jack you are a very strong person and your attitude will make you a very successful man as the years ahead of you bring you a career, love, and adventure. Keep working that hand, you are not your hand, you are your heart and soul.

    Love, always, Great Aunt Allie
